ROBERT Snell breached a restraining order – by going round to do gardening for his ex-girlfriend.
He fell foul of the police by doing the favour for her, even though she had no objections, North Lincolnshire magistrates heard.
Snell, 54, formerly of Tensing Road, Scunthorpe, admitted breaching a restraining order on June 19. Debbie Sanders, prosecuting, said the order had been made on October 5 and it banned Snell from contacting Denise Clayton and her daughter, Vicky.
Police went to their home in Tensing Road and found Snell in the kitchen. It transpired that Denise Clayton had invited him inside and he claimed she had been “constantly” telephoning him.
He said he believed that steps had been taken to quash the restraining order. He admitted there had previously been violence in their on-off relationship.
Ian Haywood, mitigating, said Snell had been asked to do some gardening. There had been no violence, threats or problems
